Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operations of microbiology and chemistry laboratories, including managing personnel and programs.
• Assist in enhancing and periodically reviewing the facility's food safety and quality programs.
• Serve as a substitute for both the Quality Assurance Lead Technician and the Quality Assurance Manager in their absence.
• Conduct training, supervision, and evaluation of Quality Assurance Laboratory technicians.
• Execute microbial and chemical analyses of food products to ensure safety and quality.
• Regularly update and maintain laboratory manuals and documentation.
• Ensure laboratory proficiency through testing and maintaining necessary certifications.
• Manage communication with the USDA FSIS, including the provision of required documentation.
• Coordinate the preparation and dispatch of samples to external laboratories and USDA AMS for testing.
• Maintain detailed records of samples sent for commodity and export testing.
• Address inquiries from employees about food safety and quality.
• Fulfill customer information requests promptly and accurately.
• Participate in the upkeep of the environmental monitoring program within the facility.
• Support management in analyzing test results, data trending, and during product/process investigations.
• Aid in the preparation and management of third-party audits.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Microbiology or a closely related field is highly preferred.
• Prior experience with SQF protocols and HACCP programs with at least 1 year of experience.
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Well-developed analytical skills, essential for problem-solving and decision-making.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
